about dan

in 2000, dan began to create mosaic art on small garden pieces, mainly flowerpots and stepping stones.  in 2005, dan created his first mural, called “The Ocean Wall”, at his then residence, The Sunnyvale Villas Condominiums, Austin, TX.

the praise he received inspired him to create other large pieces of wall art on the same property throughout the next several years.

as an avid disc golfer in the Austin community, from 2008 to 2013, dan created two large memorial pieces dedicated to fallen friends at The Met Center disc golf course. Wooden art pieces were also created by dan at Circle C disc golf course.

When friends opened a restaurant at 1707 E 6th St in Austin, they commissioned him to beautify an aging fountain on the property and Dan also created an art installation in the front of the property (inspired by Rubik’s Cube).

dan was born and raised in Midland, MI.  he made Austin, TX his home in 1981.  he is currently creating an artist space at his new home in East Austin with plans to showcase other artists and their work in the East Austin area, upcoming “open studio” tours.

dan mueller is available to create custom commissioned work for residential or commercial spaces, and the studio is open by appointment. please inquire at this website (contact us page), if you are interested in a custom created mosaic artwork at your home or business location.

Nolan River|Mural Mosaic

Of the four urban installation mosaic art works, which dan mueller has completed at MetCenter in Austin thus far, “Nolan River Papa” was completed in February of 2016.(Trigger, Tribute to Avery and Tribute to Ian are the other three urban art mosaics at MetCenter).  NolanRiverPappa-custom-nameplaque danmuellerart.com

The Nolan piece was so named (and created) as a commemoration/celebration of the birth of a son to Dan’s friends, Mathew Papa and Shannon Smith.  “Matt” Papa is also Dan’s long time disc golf buddy, and participated a substantial amount to the creation of this art work (among others, now) in application of the tiles, through to the finishing steps and completion.  NolanMosaic-MattPappa

Other friends and/or golf buddies helped as well, in part, on the Nolan piece:  Josh Rippy and Ken Shepherd.

This Nolan River Papa mosaic mural piece is viewable at the entrance of the disc golf course (which is part of MetCenter).  Specifically: by tee-box 1 and basket 18.
